Yarn is used to make items that include everything from blankets to sweaters. The only downside is the yarn can be pricey depending on the quantity and colors that are needed. One solution for knitting bulkier items is to turn your old or unwanted t-shirts into yarn.
The first step to turning old t-shirts into yarn is determining if you have suitable t-shirts available. The best types of t-shirts to use will be light to medium weight. The great thing is you can use both short-sleeved shirts and long-sleeved shirts.
You will probably want the t-shirts used for this project to be solid colors, although you might have a multi-color project in mind. If a t-shirt has screen printing, then it will not be a suitable item for this project. Turning t-shirts into yarn is something you can do by simply just by using a pair of scissors and a little bit of masking tape.
