Treating chapped or dry lips does not need to be done using store-bought products. You can make your own imitation Burt’s Bees lip balm at home. Making your own imitation Burt’s Bees lip balm is a better option than using regular store-bought products as you will have greater control of the ingredients you use. Fortunately, the peppermint scent is one of the defining qualities of Burt’s Bees lip balm and it can be easily duplicated.

The current formula for Burt’s Bees contains soybean oil and canola oil. If you want to make your own imitation Burt’s Bees lip balm, then a different recipe can be used. One of the best things about making your own lip balm at home is the cost is often far more affordable than buying the original product.

You can easily whip up a batch of imitation Burt’s Bees lip balm with your kids for a fun activity. You should first make sure all the ingredients are available. Additionally, you are going to want to make sure that you have a container for your finished lip balm. For obvious reasons, the ideal type of container would be basic lip chap tubes. If this is not an option, then you may put the imitation Burt’s Bees lip balm in any type of small jar.

If you choose to go with the lip chap tubes, then you will need to use a plastic pipette. You can find this item online or at any store that sells baking supplies. You can also use a spatula to (carefully) add your imitation Burt’s Bees lip balm to your containers.

Slight modifications can be made to the recipe based on the result you desire. You can make a lip balm that will last longer or one that is smoother by adjusting the beeswax in the recipe. Expect to fill about 12 to 14 containers for each batch of imitation Burt’s Bees lip balm that you make.
