Many people who like to do craft projects have the option to make their own custom jewelry. You have the option to use various materials to make a set of do-it-yourself jewelry. However, you also make your own silver jewelry that will cost no more than a quarter. If you are familiar with sterling silver, then you make a silver ring as a DIY project.

All you need to make a silver ring at home is a quarter that contains silver. The quarters to use to make a homemade ring need to be dated 1964 or earlier. Quarters produced after 1964 do not have any silver as it was replaced with other cheaper metals.

A regular spoon is all that is needed to form the shape of your sliver ring. Another option is to use a small hammer. The spoon or hammer you use will start to flatten the metal to form the initial shape of your silver ring. The reason this process works is because the silver in the quarter is softer than other metals. This is not a quick process and means you need to be patient to get the desired shape.

Once you have the shape of your silver ring, then the next step is drill out the center. A power drill or a dremel tool can be used for this step. You will then need to file the inside of the ring smooth to prevent cutting your finger. Expect some trial and error before you arrive at the desired result.
