Do you have a garden that seems to get overrun with insects year after year? Chemical treatments are a bad option for many reasons and homemade treatments may be hit or miss. A perfect solution to get rid of insects is to use microbats. This means a microbat box will be needed.

The reason to build a microbat box is to provide a place for the bats to roost during the day, as bats will typically feed at night. Microbats generally roost in old trees that are dead or dying. If you lack suitable trees for these bats, then a homemade roost is the best option.

Building a microbat box is not difficult to do and can be done using scrap wood. If you have some barn wood that has been salvaged, then you are all set. Just make sure to prepare the wood before starting with the assembly of the box.
