Riding a stationary bike is a great way to get much needed exercise during the winter or when a bike cannot be used outside. One thing about these machines is they are bulky and will need to be in a place where they can be used when needed. If you do not want to spend the money to buy this type of exercise machine, then a real bike can be used.

Any type of bicycle can be converted into a stationary bike. The only thing that is needed is to have the rear wheel elevated a few inches above the ground or floor. As long as the rear wheel is not making any contact with the floor, then any bicycle can used as a stationary bike.

The best way to make a stand to convert a regular bicycle into a stationary bike is to use wood. You can use any scrap wood you have for this project or get a few pieces from a home improvement store in your area. A saw will be needed to cut the wood and a power drill will be used to secure all the pieces to make the stand for your stationary bike.

If you are familiar with the bikes that are used for stunts or extreme riding, then you need to find a set of pegs. The pegs will be used to support the bike on your stationary bike stand. These are found on Amazon or stores that sell bicycle supplies for enthusiasts. All you need is the right tools to connect the pegs to the frame of your bike.
