Anyone who has a passion for beer might want to host a beer tasting event for friends and family members. With handy tutorial, you can make your own DIY beer flights to serve tastings just as you would at a brewery. Of course you can buy beer flights online, but if you want to take on a simple wood-working project, then why not make your own personalized set? You can even engrave your name on them for that extra special touch.

The most important thing about DIY beer flights is the type of wood that is used. Some of the most spectacular beer flights we’ve seen have been handmade from reclaimed old lumber, but you can use whatever you have available or at your local home improvement store or lumber yard.

You will need to use various tools and equipment to make your DIY beer flights. One important tool is a tape measure. You will also will need an electric drill with a hole attachment. A sander will be necessary if you want to smooth the surface of the wood. The lumber that you use needs to be properly measured and prepared. One important detail is the thickness of the wood you plan to use for the project. The best size for these flights will be 1/2 to 1-inch thick. A sealer or stain can be added to finish your DIY beer flights, and is highly recommended. You also may want to form the ends of your serving tray into handles to make it easier to carry.

You can make a set of DIY beer flights or just one serving tray based on your needs. It goes without saying that these make excellent gifts for other beer enthusiasts.
