Memory games are a great learning tool for young children. However, these games are often made of many components are tend to be expensive. If you are in need of something to do with young children or want to create a game to play, then creating your own foam-board memory game is a great option.

The benefit of a foam-board memory game is that the material does not usually break nor is it easily damaged. Another aspect to keep in mind is that a simple sharpie can be used to add any shapes, letters, and numbers for the pieces of your game.

You will need only a few basic materials to make a simple foam-board memory game. The most important detail is to obtain the right type of foam board. A long ruler, a cutting board, and a sharp knife will also be needed. Fortunately, all of these items are available online or at many retail stores.

The foam board size you will need should measure 20 inches by 30 inches. This will provide you with enough material to make 150 two-inch by two-inch squares for a foam-board memory game. This number allows you to create up to 15 games using ten squares each.

If a foam-board memory game is being made for younger kids, then pieces may need to be cut ahead of time. The use of regular markers is also an option instead of a sharpie. One of the nice things about this project is that you can personalize many of the options and make the ideal foam memory board game for the kids in your life.

This is a great idea as a gift or to have as a fun activity at home. Teachers can also use this game in a preschool setting. Remember, if you want to present this game as a gift, make sure to use materials that are non-toxic and kid-friendly.
